Catch Up Time

By Elizabeth M. Lukan to From Liz on Friday, September 5th, 2008.

Been busy which I’m sure most of you guessed since things have been very quiet on the Fish ‘N’ Chips site. I have a ton of catching up to do which I hope to start doing right now! Thanks for being so patient!

FNC Site Changes: Links Directory

By Elizabeth M. Lukan to From Liz on Thursday, June 19th, 2008.

By far the biggest and most drastic site change that came about as a result of the server move earlier this week, has happened to the Links Directory. You need only visit it to see that it is totally different than it was before. All the data from the old directory made the transistion, as well as all the usernames and passwords. Everything should work as it did before, but if anyone has any problems or questions (or suggestions), just comment or email and I’ll be happy to help you out. It really should be a seamless transistion because it is exactly the same software (although an updated version) with just a whole new face on it. Hope you like it. And, if you haven’t already, submit your site and your favorites!

FNC Site Changes: Newsletter Updates

By Elizabeth M. Lukan to From Liz on Thursday, June 19th, 2008.

Along with the site move earlier this week, I made some changes to the Newsletter.  Not much and nothing really drastic. Behind the scenes was a major software upgrade which thankfully went very smoothly.

A couple of slight tweaks to the right-side menu… ”Old Fish” which is what I call the monthly archives is now a drop-down list. No biggie I know, but it will keep the menu smaller in the long run.  Also on the right-side menu is a new section called “Talking Fish” which shows the most recent comments. Not new but never mentioned before is a section called “Support Fish” which contains links to my affiliates. Clicking and ordering from any of those sites will put a couple of pennies in the FNC Piggy Bank!

The coolest change, I think anyway, is the addition of Gravatars. A Gravatar is a globally recognized avatar which is an image that follows you around from site, to blog, to forum, and so on. It’s based on your email address and they are totally free. To see them in action, visit this post which shows my Gravatar and the default FNC one. You can find out more about them and get your own at Gravatar. Do it, it’s free, it’s cool, and while the default FNC Gravatar is a lovely beach scene that makes me just want to get out a chair and a cold drink, I’d prefer to see your Gravatar there. Oh, one last comment, only G rated Gravatars are allowed on this site.

FNC Host Change Complete

By Elizabeth M. Lukan to From Liz on Wednesday, June 18th, 2008.

On Monday, June 16th, the move of this site to it’s new host - HAI Hosting - was completed. Yesterday, I spent some time making sure everything was up and running and no files had been forgotten. And now I’m letting you all know that this not-so-little project of mine has been completed. Besides the fact that it’s almost time to put my little one to bed, I don’t want this to be a giant post, so I will post again soon to let you know what’s changed on the site. Comment or email if you have any problems or questions!

FNC Changing Hosts Again Con’t

By Elizabeth M. Lukan to From Liz on Monday, June 2nd, 2008.

As I mentioned on May 15th, I will be moving the FNC site to a new host. That move will take place this month. As a result, I will not be posting for a while as I focus on the move. FNC’s new host will be HAI Hosting. If anyone has any recommendations for the site, now would be a good time to send them my way via a comment to this post.
